Archaeological Sites Tour #10 Itinerary  -  Updated for 2007
(4-Days / 3-Nights)
Departs from: Flores, Petén

Day-1 - Santa Elena, Petén / Sayaxche / Aguateca / Punta De Chimino
Pick up at Mundo Maya airport in Santa Elena, Petén.  Transfer to the frontier town of Sayaxché.  Boat transfer to the archaeological site of Aguateca.  Visit this site not like common tourists but like explorers, where we will visit the canyon that divides the center of the city from the outskirts.  Transfer to Punta de Chimino.  Lunch.  Dinner.  Overnight accommodations at Chimino's Island eco-lodge.   

Day-2 - Punta De Chimino / Ceibal / Sayaxche / Santa Elena, Petén
Breakfast.  Transfer to the frontier town of Sayaxche.  Continue on overland to the archaeological site of Ceibal.  Here we will visit the largest ancient Maya center in the Pasión region.  After taking in the ruins and eating our box lunch and gazing at the view over the river plain below we will transfer to the frontier town of Sayaxché and continue on over land to Santa Elena, Petén.  Overnight accommodations at Hotel Peten Esplendido*** or similar.   Box Lunch  

Day-3 - Santa Elena, Petén / Tikal / El Remate
Breakfast.  Transfer to the archaeological site of Tikal. Visit the site.  There we will visit the Great Plaza, the Plaza of the Great Pyramid or the Lost World, the Plaza of the Seven Temples, the East Plaza, the West Plaza, Temples I, II, III, IV, V, and VI, the Twin Pryamid Complex and the Acropolis'.  Lunch within the park. Transfer to El Remate.  Visit the artesian shops.   Overnight accommodations at Hotel La Casa de Don David*** or similar.   

Day-4 - El Remate / Yaxha / Topoxte / Santa Elena, Petén
Breakfast.  Transfer to the archaeological sites of Yaxhá/Topoxté.  Visit the sites.  Yaxhá (in the Maya language means "Green Water").  This beautiful archaeological site is located on the shores of Laguna Yaxhá.  The Plazas and Acropolis' are connected by sacbés (elevated roads). Yaxhá has many temples, but only one has been largely restores "Temple 216".  It is the third largest Maya city in the Petén and is of the Early Classic and Post Classic periods.  Topoxté is located on an island in the middle of Laguna Yaxhá, the largest body of water in the Maya Biosphere Reserve.  Transfer to Santa Elena, Petén. Overnight accommodation at Hotel Petén Esplendido*** or similar.    

Day-5 - Santa Elena, Petén / Mundo Maya International Airport
Breakfast.  Transfer to Mundo Maya International Airport for flight departure.
