Itinerary - New for 2007

Day-1 - Guatemala City
Arrival in Guatemala City. Transfer to hotel. Overnight accommodations at Grand Tikal Futura Hotel**** or similar.
Day-2 - Guatemala City /
Biotopo Quetzal / Coban / Santa Cruz Verapaz
Breakfast. Transfer to Alta Verapaz and on the way visit the natural reserve of the Biotopo del Quetzal in the cloud forest of Las Verapaces. Cobán city tour where you will visit the Cathedral, the Calvario and the Prince Maya museum. Transfer to Santa Cruz Verapaz. Overnight accommodations at Park Hotel*** or similar.
Day- 3 - Santa
Cruz Verapaz / Semac-Champey / Lanquin / Santa Cruz Verapaz
Breakfast. Transfer to Semuc-Champey, a masterpiece of mother nature, where two rivers pass on top of each other creating a natural bridge called "Siguan".
The larger river reappears 500 meters downstream and the upper river creates a series of waterfalls.
Transfer to the Caves of Lanquin. The depth and length of the caves are not known.
We will visit part of it. The Lanquin river flows through these caves. Transfer to Santa Cruz Verapaz. Overnight accommodations at Park Hotel*** or similar.
Day-4 - Santa
Cruz Verapaz / Cancuen / Candelaria Caves
Breakfast. Early morning transfer over land and by riverboat to the archaeological site of Cancuén which was the important ancient trading site of the Maya and whose wealthy kings built one of the largest palaces in the Maya world.
Visit the site of Cancuén. Transfer overland to the Candelaria Caves, among the most stunning natural features in the Maya world.
These immense, awe-inspiring underground chambers have been a major pilgrimage center for the Maya for thousands of years.
Lunch. Dinner and overnight accommodations at Candelaria Caves eco-lodge.
Day- 5 - Candelaria
Caves / Sayaxche / Ceibal / Santa Elena,
Petén
Breakfast. Early morning transfer overland to the archaeological site of Ceibal. Visit the site. Box lunch.
Transfer back to Sayaxché and continue overland to Santa Elena, Petén. Overnight accommodations at Hotel Petén Esplendido*** or similar.

Day-6 - Santa
Elena,
Petén
/ Tikal / El Remate
Breakfast. Transfer to the archaeological site of Tikal, the most powerful city of the Classic period. Declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO in October 1979. Visit the Plaza of the Great Pyramid or the Lost World, the Plaza of the Seven Temples, Temples I, II, the Twin Pyramid Complex and the Acropolis among others. Lunch within the park. Transfer to El Remate. Overnight accommodations at Hotel Villa Maya*** or similar.
Day-7 - El
Remate / Yaxha / Rio Dulce
Breakfast. Transfer to the archaeological site of Yaxhá. Yaxhá in the Maya language means "green water".
Yaxhá is located on the shore of Laguna Yaxhá. Visit the site.
Transfer to Río Dulce. Overnight accommodations at Hacienda Tijax or similar.
Day-8 - Rio
Dulce / Livinston / Rio Dulce / Guatemala City
Breakfast. Transfer by boat to Río Dulce, where beautiful canyons and tropical animals are a part of this scenic view.
Visit Castle San Felipe and the town of Livingston. Transfer by boat to Puerto Barrios. Transfer over land to Guatemala City.
Overnight accommodations at Grand Tikal Futura Hotel**** or similar.
Day-9 - Guatemala
City / La Aurora International Airport
Breakfast. Transfer to La Aurora International airport for flight departure.
