IMPORTANT NOTICES:
(March 12, 2008) NOTICE: We have been
informed that most boats in the Galapagos Islands will be adding a
fuel surcharge of US $200 per person (per week) for all sailings
beginning June 01, 2008.
(October 16,
2007) NOTICE: The Galapagos National
Institute (INGALA) has announced that as of October 22, 2007,
tourists visiting the Galapagos Islands will be required to obtain
a yellow Transit Control Card which will allow the tourist a
maximum 90-day stay in the islands. The card will have a bar
code, which will be registered upon entering the Galapagos
National Park (GNP) at the airport - when the GNP entrance fee is
paid. The cost of the card is US$10.00 paid in cash at the
airport. [It is not yet known if this fee will be payable in
advance.]
Upon completion of the Galapagos trip, the
card must be presented again to the INGALA personnel at the
airport, so that the departure can be registered. It is very
important that visitors to the Galapagos NOT lose this card, as
this will cause delays upon departure.
(August 31, 2007) IMPORTANT
NOTICE (Please Read):
We have been informed that due to strict enforcement of
environmental regulations in the Galapagos and in an effort to
maintain the delicate ecological balance of the archipelago, there
will be no deviations from the normal itineraries granted by the
park authorities. This also means that no diving will be
allowed from any boats except for those which include diving in
their Galapagos authority approved itineraries. There
is talk of closing Tower Island and Floreana Island to visitors at
some point.
(August 31,
2007) VERY IMPORTANT NOTICE: Those
booking cruises / tours in the Galapagos should understand that
the Galapagos authorities are subject to order changes to any
itineraries at any time and understand that these changes cannot
be accepted by the boat operators and travel agencies as a reason
for last-minute cancellations.
Watch this space for updates when and if
information becomes available.
