Volcano Avenue
It begins at 5° N and ends at
2° S, it is 360 km. Long and 50
km. wide. It is composed of 73 volcanoes, 18 of which have erupted in the last
10,000 years and 7 of the 18 of them in the last 500 years. Friedrich Alexander von Humboldt, a pioneer in the science of
vulcanology who studied the Antisana Lava Flow in the nineteenth
century, gave the Volcano Avenue its name.
