Termas de Papallacta Spa and Resort is located just 67-kilometers (40-miles) east of Quito, on the route taken in 1542 by Spanish conquistador Francisco de Orellana as he crossed the Andes mountain range in order to discover the Amazon River.

  • Climate: Upper mountain forest. Cold-wet climate. 
  • Winter (cold and rain, similar to autumn): June, July, and August
  • Summer (similar to spring): December, January, February, and March
  • The remaining months present a transition between winter and summer. 
  • Average daytime temperature: 14° C (57° F)
