Hacienda San Agustin
de Callo
One and a quarter hours from the Ecuadorian capital of Quito
stands the beautiful and little known colonial farmhouse of
San Agustin de Callo. Built on the site of an
important Inca Palace, this working farmhouse offers today's
discerning traveler an unrivaled glimpse into Ecuador's rich and
colorful past.
Since the 15th century
it has served as Inca fortress, Augustinian convent and temporary home
for the French Geodesic mission - whose scientific results helped to
change the shape of the planet. The Hacienda incorporates three distinct
architectural styles, Inca, Colonial and Republican, the latter of which
was added toward the turn of the 20th century.
Now, you too can
experience Hacienda San Agustin de Callo!

For those fortunate to reserve one of San Agustin's
exquisitely furnished rooms, we offer a number of outdoor
activities including trout fishing, horse riding, mountain bikes,
visits to the famous local Indian markets of Saquisili, Latacunga
and Pujili and walks in and around the Cotopaxi National
Park.

The Hacienda San Agustin de Callo
was once owned by a former President of Ecuador and remains in his
family. |
The dining room, with its view of Cotopaxi Volcano,
provides its guests with the perfect setting to savor the
Hacienda's excellent Ecuadorian cuisine. An Inca built room,
with it's perfectly carved volcanic walls a monument to a
craftsmanship long since forgotten, serves as our Chapel. |
Traditional FestivalsLocal Indians in festival attire. The Hacienda plays host to
Traditional Festivals, which are held throughout the year. |
