The Andes-Crossing Tour
Where Patagonia begins. The route of the lakes, rivers and volcanoes that joins two brother nations wears tourism.
The Andes-Crossing Chile - Argentina, a majestic journey that connects the cities of Puerto Varas and San Carlos de Bariloche, needs the support and the leadership of a great company.
We present . . . the Andes-Crossing Tour.
Description:
The journey begins in Puerto Montt and Puerto Varas. On the way we enter the historic town of Puerto
Octay.
We stop at the city’s vantage point "Mirador del Lago
Llanquihue", from where you can explore the mountain range of the Andes and its impressive volcanoes.
Leaving Puerto Octay behind us, we reach the city of Osorno and take the international route No. 215 to the Andes Mountain Range.
After an hour we will get to the mountains range and the Valdivian Rainforest.
Obligatory stop at the Puyehue Lake ("place of little fishes") at one of its vantage points.
Without realizing it we enter in the Andean massif.
Near noon, we stop for the customs formalities.
In the middle of the mountain range and the exact point where the rivers slope to either Chile or Argentina, we bid farewell to Chile at the Chilean-Argentinean border pillar.
In order to move on we have to do the official registration before crossing borders at the Argentine customs.
Only 30 minutes later we will arrive at Villa La Angostura. One hour of free time, excellent for lunch.
We follow our way through the Nahuel
Huapi National Park, bordering the namesake lake, and leave behind rich forests to continue through the Argentinean Pampa.
The road leads us to the final destination of our Andes-Crossing, the bus terminal in the City of San Carlos de Bariloche.
